Anointing of the Sick

"Heal the sick!" The Church has received this charge from the Lord and strives to carry it out by taking care of the sick as well as by accompanying them with her prayer of intercession.

- Catechism of the Catholic Church #1509

Contact the parish office when a loved one is in the hospital, or seriously ill, so that a priest may visit as soon as possible. The The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a special grace of healing and comfort given to the Christian as soon as it becomes clear that their health is seriously impaired. A person of any age who has entered an acute stage of illness may be anointed.

If at all possible, the sacrament should not be delayed until the person is at the point of death.
